YPP: Swedish British Summit 2023 in London

Last week, members of the BSCC Young Patrons had the privilege of attending the British Swedish Summit 2023 in London. This summit served as a platform for engaging discussions on leadership in contemporary society, bringing together notable figures such as business leaders, entrepreneurs, politicians, and academics from both Sweden and Britain. Our gratitude goes to the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK, along with Fredrik Warneryd and team, for welcoming us.

Taking advantage of our time in London, we also explored some of the city’s leading corporations, delving into their work and respective industries. The day commenced at SEB, where we were warmly hosted by Henrik Landegren Lesaque and Victoria Beschorner. They provided us with a fascinating glimpse into how the company is at the forefront of innovative progress in climate change management.

Our next stop was the Houses of Parliament, where MP Brendan Clarke-Smith hosted us. Discussions centred around enhancing collaboration between Britain and Sweden for mutual economic benefit. A comprehensive tour of the Houses of Parliament, including insights into the House of Commons, shed light on the intricate parliamentary processes in the UK.

A visit to the iconic Lloyd’s of London building followed, guided by Anne Glynn, who shared insights into the functioning of the insurance market in the UK and the industry’s rich history.

The day concluded with a visit to the NatWest offices. Engaging discussions unfolded around their roles within the company and how NatWest is driving innovation in the banking industry through client relationships.

Our sincere thanks extend to all who hosted us, contributing to the success of this memorable trip. A very special appreciation goes to the Young Patrons for your great contributions throughout this year’s programme and not least during the London trip. It’s been a privilege to learn more about your industries and perspectives on the complex challenges of contemporary business.
