New Members of the BSCC Executive Board

During the Annual General Meeting on 15 May, Mattias Hedwall, Åsa Jamal, and Olivia Ross-Wilson were elected new Members of the BSCC Executive Board.

Mattias Hedwall, Head of International Commercial & Trade Group, Baker McKenzie
Mattias graduated from the University of Stockholm (LL.M. juris kandidat, 1993) and the University of London/London School of Economics (LL.M. in International Business Law, 1996). He practiced in the District court 1993- 1995 and joined Baker McKenzie in 1996. He is a partner of Baker McKenzie Law firm since 2003. He currently holds the position as chairman of the Baker McKenzie Stockholm office.

Mattias is head of the Baker McKenzie Stockholm International Commercial & Trade Group and his practice is focused on corporate and commercial agreements, export and trade, compliance, and supply chain issues. Mattias has extensive experience in domestic and international law and policy related to his areas of practice as well as substantive experience on export sanctions. He represents and advises a number of prominent companies in various sectors including manufacturing, transportation, advertisement, retail, travel and media.

In addition, he has been a member of the Swedish Bar Association since 1999; he is a member of the ICC Sweden Trade Committee and a Partner member of the Swedish Security & Defence Industry Association (SOFF). He is also the chairman of the Baertling Foundation.

 

Åsa Jamal, Senior Vice President Communication, Brand, Public and Regulatory Affairs, Vattenfall
Åsa is a seasoned communications executive with over 15 years of experience in C-suite roles spanning consulting, media, and utilities, including telecom and energy sectors. Throughout her career, she has honed her expertise in navigating complex stakeholder dynamics at the intersection of business, politics, and public interest.

Currently, she holds a role as a member of the Vattenfall Executive Management Team, overseeing the company’s communication and stakeholder management strategies, encompassing brand and marketing, press relations, corporate and internal communications, as well as public and regulatory affairs. Leading a diverse team of 130 professionals across seven countries, she ensures alignment with Vattenfall’s overarching objectives.

Prior to her tenure at Vattenfall, Åsa served as the Senior Vice President and Head of Communication at Telia Company, and earlier, she held the position of Head of Communication, Public Affairs and HR at Bonnier Broadcasting/ TV4.

She commenced her career at the strategic communications consultancy JKL, where she served as a partner and managing director for six years.

In addition to her corporate roles, Åsa has contributed her expertise to various board positions, including serving as the Chair of the Board at Kasthall.

 

Olivia Ross-Wilson, Chief Communications Officer, Volvo Cars
Olivia has 24 years of experience working in automotive, retail and non-profit sectors.

As Chief Communications Officer for Volvo Cars, Olivia is responsible for global PR, communication, public affairs, stakeholder engagement and advocacy. Olivia is a member of the executive management team and the Volvo Cars Tech Fund Board.

Prior to joining Volvo Cars Olivia spent 10 years at IKEA (Ingka Group). As Chief Communications Officer, Olivia was responsible for purpose, brand positioning, public affairs and communication for the global retailer. She was a member of the executive leadership team and responsible for co-development of company strategy and transformation agenda.

Olivia has also served as the Director of Communication for Climate at Clinton Foundation and Bloomberg Philanthropies in New York, working in the intersection between business and societal impact. She has also worked for Ketchum, a global communication agency, in London.

Originally from Australia, Olivia is a British and Australian citizen.
