Year in Review 2024
Our Platinum Jubilee Year was truly exceptional, marked by joyous celebrations and inspiring moments shared with our members. In 2024, we organized 22 distinct events that brought together 1,028 participants from 196 different companies. These gatherings featured 55 speakers and explored over 23 diverse topics.
Together with Vinge and Eversheds Sutherland we hosted discussions on Artificial Intelligence and all its practical implications. With DLA Piper we hosted an expert panel discussion on Business Challenges and Sustainable Opportunities. We have gained valuable insights from key speakers during our Industry Focus and Financial Outlook events, including John Briggs and Kevin Cummins from NatWest, CEO Andrés Rubio from Intrum, and Michael Green, CEO at Handelsbanken. The US elections were on everyone’s minds this year, and we were privileged to hear from Patrick Pearsall of A&O Shearman about the geopolitical implications of the results.
The highlight of the year was undoubtedly our 70th Jubilee Event at the Grand Hotel, where we welcomed over 200 members and guests for a day filled with valuable lessons and strengthened connections. The event commenced with an inaugural address by Tom Standage from The Economist, who shared his insights on the World Ahead. This was followed by three enlightening panel discussions on the Strategic Partnership between Sweden and the United Kingdom. Attendees were treated to an exquisite luncheon in Spegelsalen, during which we heard from distinguished keynote speakers Johan Forsell, Jacob Wallenberg, and Chris Barton CMG.
As always, we cherished our Annual General Meeting, where former Ambassador to Sweden Judith Gough spoke together with Micael Johansson, CEO SAAB, on collaborations in the field of natinal security. The spirited Annual Golf Tournament was also this year held in collaboration with AmCham, and we concluded our year with festive Christmas Drinks generously hosted at the British Ambassador’s Residence. These annual events hold special significance for us, and it was wonderful to see so many members attending.
We would like to take this opportunity to recognize some of our member companies for their exceptional engagement throughout the year. Leading the way were SEB, NatWest, Eversheds Sutherland, Global Child Forum and Handelsbanken who attended our events the most and whose commitment has been truly inspiring.
As we look to 2025, we face significant challenges, from ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine to concerns about competitiveness and critical environmental issues. While these obstacles are daunting, they also present a powerful opportunity for us to unite as a global community. By collaborating and sharing our strengths, we can develop innovative solutions that not only address these challenges but also foster resilience and connection. Together, we can inspire meaningful change and work toward a brighter, more sustainable future.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to all our members and Patrons for making our jubilee year of 2024 truly remarkable. Your unwavering dedication and support have been instrumental in the success of our initiatives and events. Together, we’ve created memorable experiences and fostered a vibrant community.
As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward to another 70 years of collaboration and camaraderie. Together, let’s continue to grow, inspire, and strengthen our bond as we embark on new journeys. Here’s to many more exceptional years ahead!
