Copyright Implications of Machine Learning

On 24 May, the BSCC welcomed members to the second event on Legal AI, Copyright Implications of Machine Learning. Together with Imogen Ireland, Senior Associate at Hogan Lovells, Tobias Kempas, Counsel at Vinge, Lavan Thasarathakumar, Senior Advisor at Hogan Lovells, and Alastair Shaw, Counsel at Hogan Lovells, we discussed the evolving relationship between artificial intelligence (AI), intellectual property (IP), and regulatory frameworks.

We would like to express our gratitude to all the speakers for sharing their expertise and insights on these issues. Breakfast Financial Outlook: Time for Optimism at Last? | Intrum

On 21 May, The BSCC welcomed members to a Breakfast Financial Outlook, hosted by Intrum. Together with Andrés Rubio, President and CEO of Intrum, and Anna Zabrodzka-Averianov, Senior Economist at Intrum, we explored the current macroeconomic landscape of Europe and the key findings from Intrum’s newly released European Payment Report 2024.

70th Annual General Meeting

On 15 May, the BSCC and H.E. Ms. Judith Gough CMG, British Ambassador to Sweden, welcomed members to the 70th Annual General Meeting at the British Ambassador’s Residence.

During the evening, we had the pleasure of listening to Guest of Honour, Mr. Micael Johansson’s, President and CEO of Saab, and H.E. Ms Judith Gough’s reflections on the current trends within the geopolitical context and their implications for the defence industries and the collaboration between countries and businesses.

The Rise of Homeland Economics

On 9 April, the BSCC, together with Business Region GothenburgInPressInvest in Skåne, and Stockholm Business Region, welcomed members and partners to the first seminar in our series of events addressing the complexities of the world ahead. Together with Niklas Persson, Executive Vice President and Managing Director for BU Grid Integration at Hitachi Energy, Alasdair Ross, Countries Editor at The Economist, and Pia Sandvik, CEO at Teknikföretagen, we discussed the rising focus on protectionism, explored the role of free markets in driving innovation and addressed the urgent need for change.

Welcome to the UK 2024 | SCC | EY

On 26 March, the BSCC, as a supporting partner, attended the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK’s event ‘Welcome to the UK 2024’, hosted by EY. The event brought together start-ups and scaleups with experts in their respective fields, the discussions ranged from the practicalities of setting up your business in the UK, navigating the challenges, to the do’s and don’ts required for a successful UK expansion.

Whiskey Tasting | Edrington Sweden

On 13 March, the British-Swedish Chamber of Commerce and Edrington Sweden welcomed members to the annual BSCC whisky tasting. During the evening, we learned about the history of the Macallan, the whisky-making process and tasted a selection of their single malt whiskys.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Edrington Sweden for hosting us and for introducing us to the world of the Macallan whisky. We would also like to thank all attending members for contributing to a lovely evening.
